Email from Mr Larry Douglass, September, 2007 I just wanted to say, "Thanks" for the wonderful boots. I thought my testimonial might help the company in some small way as a way of repaying your company for making the kind of boot that works. I asked about boots that might have a wide cut and the store manager told me about Altberg Boots. I was totally unfamiliar with your brand, but I called your factory immediately. A very nice and helpful man talked to me, answered my many questions and then told me to phone Prentice-Bell which I did. I got the name of Moorland Ramblers in Exeter and as soon as we had time to get to the shop, we did. There, I tried on several Altbergs and finally settled on a 9wide as they did not have an extra wide in stock. They seemed a little snug so I had them stretch the left boot while I had a sandwich in the city centre. For the next two weeks, I wore them to work, to walk in the house, to walk to the store-wherever I needed to go. I was desperate to 'break them in' for the 60+ mile Himalayan trek we were planning. I even wore them on the flight to India and everywhere in Leh, Ladakh, our destination. The trek when without episode for me and my new Altbergs. I did not have any soreness, any blisters or any skin breakdown during the 8-day trek. I was one of the few without boot problems on the trek. I would like to thank you folks at Altberg for understanding that not everyone has a 'medium' width foot and we need boots that are made to fit. Buying shoes has always been a nightmare experience for me and your boots prove that it is possible to accomodate those of us who have wider than medium feet. Thanks for your commitment to all consumers. Thanks again, LW Douglass Close window |
